This photo was taken last summer while we were ‘home’ visiting my family on the farm where I grew up. It was a lazy summer’s afternoon and my three kids were playing so well together, driving around in the little tractor and wagon. When I took the photo, I was reminded how lucky my kids are to have one another – to always have a playmate no matter where in the world they are. I thought how lucky my daughter Ivy is to have her brothers to cycle her around all day (and truthfully how lucky I am too, because they are mostly quite happy to entertain themselves and this means that I can enjoy a bit of relaxing holiday time too).
I love that this photo captures a bit of their unique personalities as well. My oldest, is usually the one leading the pack. He’s quite an imaginative little boy and can create fun out of nowhere. My second son, is so patient and easy-going, and happy to go with the flow and follow his brother’s lead. And my daughter is just always just along for the ride.
This photo makes me happy because it not only captures a wonderful, happy moment in time, but also the dynamic between my children and the roles they each play.
